Harvard Jolly Fort Lauderdale Office Begins Design
of Three New Projects
October 10, 2011
Harvard Jolly Architecture is pleased to announce three new projects in South Florida.
Broward Health for Community Health Services' Healthcare for the Homeless Clinic
Broward Health has contracted Harvard Jolly to design a new clinic to provide the community with a modern facility to serve homeless patients in need of medical services.
Funded entirely through a Health Resources and Services Administration grant, the new $1.8 million, single story, 7,230 square foot clinic will be twice as large as the facility currently offering these services. The design features a more efficient layout, more exam rooms and improved privacy. The project is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2012.
Miami Dade College West Campus Parking Garage
The design-build team of Ajax Building Corporation/Harvard Jolly has begun the design of a new, 1,855 space parking garage for Miami Dade College's West Campus in Doral, Florida. The $24.5 million structure will allow for a future classroom and office space expansion under the entire footprint of the garage.
The architectural style will create a new image for the West Campus but will seamlessly integrate with the existing facilities. The sculptured garden and plaza are being designed to encourage student gathering as an extension of the learning environment and can be used to support events as well. The project is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2012.
Jackson Health System - Ryder Trauma Center Fortification Project
Harvard Jolly is currently working on concepts that will enable the Ryder Trauma Center to withstand the forces of a 500-year storm event. The hardening of this existing building will protect its occupants and preserve its operational capability during and following an extreme hurricane. The $6 million upgrade funded through FEMA will also extend beyond the minimum required building codes for similar important facilities. The dramatic aesthetics of this 21st century design of the exterior facade will be the flagship of the new image for Jackson Health System facilities that will signify their superior quality of care and good will of the community..
The Ryder Trauma Center will remain in operation during construction, and Harvard Jolly will work with Jackson Health System and the Federal Aviation Administration to develop an interim location for the Center's helipad. This project is targeted to be LEED Certified and will be completed in Spring 2013.
"We are celebrating the ten year anniversary of Harvard Jolly's Fort Lauderdale office and it has been our pleasure to be a part of South Florida's growth and development," said Yvette London, AIA, LEED AP, Director of Harvard Jolly's Ft. Lauderdale office. "In these difficult economic times, we are very fortunate to see an increase of both staff and projects."
