Connerton Elementary School

Land O' Lakes, FL

School Board of Pasco County | 92,500 SF | 2010

The new Connerton Elementary replaced an older facility, Sanders Elementary School. At 92,500 square feet, Connerton consists of 6 one-story buildings located around a secure, landscaped courtyard. When it opened for the 2010-2011 school year, it was near capacity with 725 students.

Connerton's classrooms are designed with a shared common teacher planning and student project area. These pods create teams that allow students and teachers to remain together through fifth grade. In addition, many technologies were incorporated to enhance the learning experience. Classrooms, for example, are equipped with new laptops and white boards.

The Media Center and Multipurpose Room are designed for before and after school uses and are accessible through the center courtyard.

The school is targeted to achieve LEED Certification and is currently registered with the U.S. Green Building Council.
