SSC-UCF Partnership Center
Sanford, FL
Seminole State College of Florida | 109,675 SF | 2010
The Partnership Center, which is prominently positioned in the center of Seminole State College of Florida's Sanford/Lake Mary campus, is a joint-use classroom and library facility that is shared by SSC and the University of Central Florida. At 109,675 square feet, the multi-story building is comprised of three wings that are co-joined at the center with a cylindrical shaped two-story "hub," or Information Commons.
The two four-story northern wings contain 29 classrooms and laboratories, as well as faculty offices. Each classroom and lab is equipped with multimedia and audiovisual systems that are capable of providing video conferencing. The 33,000 square foot southern wing houses the library, an abundance of open computers, a dedicated computer lab, a variety of group study rooms and a large quiet reading room. Wi-Fi is also available throughout the building.
Through the DirectConnect to UCF program, more than 6,800 SSC students have the opportunity to make a seamless transition to UCF when they earn their A.A. or A.S. degree at SSC. To assist students with their transition, a UCF Student Services center is located adjacent to the Information Commons. The Partnership Center is also supplemented with a café, which allows the building to serve as a nexus for gathering and socializing.
